Rachael Vaessen · Soma Cycle
Every body is a wheel within wheels.
Breath within the day. The day within the moon. The moon within the seasons. The seasons within the sun's long year, and all of it within the slow spiral of the galaxy. When our inner wheels turn with the greater ones, the strength and vibrancy of our mind-body-soma is maximized.
As above, so within
The body mirrors the cosmos.
Spirals run from the arms of the galaxy down to the weave of our muscles and fascia. We are made to move in rhythm: to open in spring, to blaze in summer, to gather in fall, and to rest in winter.
When our inner wheels can't turn with the greater ones, we feel friction, contraction and eventually breakdown. This work is about releasing the tension, adhesions and trauma held in the body, and learning to move with the seasons again.
The Breath
The smallest wheel, and the one we can turn on purpose. It's where nervous-system regulation begins.

The Day
Dawn, noon, dusk and midnight. The whole year in miniature, every single day.
The Moon
Waxing and waning, seeding and releasing. A monthly season of its own.
The Seasons
Spring into summer, fall into winter. Effort and rest, each in its time.
The Galaxy
Our sun's long orbit around the galactic center. The wheel that holds all the others.
